German Teacher in Tucson, AZ

Desert Sky is seeking a qualified German Teacher for three classes meeting twice a week – for a total of six sessions a week, for the full school year (starting immediately to June 1). The First Graders have had no German instruction at the school. The Second/Third Grade and the Fourth/Fifth Grade have had German language acquisition and cultural appreciation in previous years. The teacher is expected to draw on their own personal experience, as well as incorporate song, movement, and games, to facilitate student learning and comfort with conversation. The German teacher is invited to work with Faculty and Parents on a Weihnachtsmarkt in December, and a FaschingsFest in the Spring. Must have a current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, and meet Highly Qualified Criteria. As academic teachers, foreign language teachers may meet Highly Qualified criteria by either having a Bachelor’s degree and a passing score on the Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessment(AEPA) for German, OR a state teaching certification for foreign language. Rate of Pay is $25 per hour. This is a suitable position for a teacher who seeks the freedom to develop a creative German curriculum which is Waldorf-friendly (ie, please no worksheets, cartoons, computers, or recorded music.)
